The Wikipedia article says that Travers Buxton was a scion of the humanitarian Buxtons and goes on to discuss Sir Thomas Fowell Buxton and his eponymous grandson. Is there any proof of this connection? I have done some research on Travers, and I cannot find a connection other than the last name and the Anti-Slavery Society. He was the son of one Travers Buxton, born 1824, who lived in Lamberth, London as a teenager and in Surrey as an adult. Travers senior does not appear to have been a close relation of the famous Buxtons. Here's what I have on Travers, senior: 1841 census has him at age 15, but probably 17 or 18 (in the 1861 census, he gives his birth year as 1824) living with a Hannah Travers (aunt? Age 45), Denmark Hill, Lambeth + 3 sisters aged 15, 20 and 25. The 1841 census shows a John and Hannah Buxton aged 60 on Denmark Hill but not in the same household, but no indication of relationship. I have also found a reference to Travers Buxton living as a foreign agent in Canton, 1848. If anyone has more information, I would be eager to see it.
