Some major errors, this needs work

[edit]

First, the structure drawn is incorrect. It shows a 19-methyl present while the compound has none.

Second, it is very questionable whether this drug was, as claimed, developed by the Population Council. Perhaps they may be funding it now. The claim that they developed it should be backed up or removed.

Effort may now be being made to apply this drug to contraceptive use but having read the original scientific papers back when this drug was first being written about, which was many years back, that wasn't what it was designed for. It was designed as a safe anabolic. Suppression of LH production is a side effect that is now being exploited.

Lastly, I doubt very much that MENT is a "brand name." This is simply the abbreviation that has been used scientifically for many years.

I would request the author to go back and try to find backup for these various claims, or if as I believe he cannot because they are not right, remove them. 71.48.245.82 (talk) 16:34, 28 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I replaced the incorrect image, and made a few minor changes to start addressing some of your concerns, which I agree with. Please feel free to remove any content that is dubious and unreferenced (just leave an edit summary noting that this is the reason for removal). -- Ed (Edgar181) 15:25, 4 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Ed; I will try working on it to help out with it as well. 173.169.90.206 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 15:00, 15 February 2011 (UTC).[reply]
