fate of 1849 church[edit]
the 1849 Church was demolished some years ago: local enquiries suggest that the church was built as a vanity project to be a 'Cathedral of the Downs' built in local 'clunch' stone it did not survive weathering and was demolished in the 2nd half of the 20th century -- reportedly, the event was televised the adjacent Churchyard is mown by some group?
