[edit]

I have read that the artist Viktor Hartmann made a costume sketch for Trilby on the theme "The dance of the unhatched chicks" (the chicks in the sketch may have been canaries.) After Hartmann's untimely death, his friend Moussorgsky wrote the virtuoso piano piece "Pictures at an Exhibition" with musical renderings of several of Hartmann's paintings. The unhatched chicks became a part of this musical masterpiece.

If this item can be verified, it would make an interesting addition to the wikipedia entry.
