The population count is too large (by far)

[edit]

As of 2022-06-26, both the infobox and the second paragraph contain bizarrely exaggerated population counts.

The second paragraph currently contains a population figure of 2,456,189 while the truth is closer to multiplying the figures for the area (21.25 square kilometres) with 3,033 inhabitants per square kilometre, which amounts to 64,451.

All other figures given in this paragraph are grotesquely wrong:

  • The city centre (on Tromsøya) has a population of 1,245,896 – the truth is probably 39,882
  • The mainland borough of the city, Tromsdalen, has a population of 680,134 – the truth is probably 16,787
  • and the suburb of Kvaløysletta on the island of Kvaløya has a population of 530,150 – the truth is probably 8,681
  • The most populous town north of Tromsø in Norway is Alta, with a population of 150,094 (2017) – the truth is probably 15,094
  • the northernmost [city] in the world with a population exceeding 400,000 – the population is less than 100,000

The poulation density in the infobox, 26,000/km2, is also wrong (maybe calculated automatically).

Compare it with the numbers given for Tromsø municipality (approx. 77,000) that includes Tromsø city. Or look at the Swedish version of this page. Or look at the official statistics[1]

Update 2022-07-15: The population count has been corrected by manual revert on 2022-07-06. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gimsieke (talkcontribs) 16:31, 15 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
