Importance[edit]

I'm lowering it to low again. Tropical Storm Alpha (2005) had 26 deaths in a non-developed country and was low importance. Arlene just seems pretty average, albeit on the high-side of low importance. --♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 20:42, 22 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

What does the development of a country have to do with importance? Honestly, I think 25 fatalities and widespread damage is enough to warrant mid-importance. ★ Auree talk 05:45, 23 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Developed countries generally have better infrastructure. A storm killing 25 people in Bangladesh would certainly be low. --♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 06:06, 23 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Alright, seeing the damage totals and the extent of information, I agree that it should be mid-importance. Good thing this is a wiki and we can change things :) --♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 14:22, 14 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Reviewer: Yellow Evan (talk · contribs) 04:12, 21 October 2012 (UTC) This article is in good shape. However, my concerns are:[reply]

  • Better opener. YE Pacific Hurricane 04:12, 21 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • "Originating from an Atlantic tropical wave, the precursor disturbance crossed the Yucatán Peninsula before emerging into the Bay of Campeche over warm waters." delink Atlatnic, major term per WP:OVERLINKING. YE Pacific Hurricane 04:12, 21 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • "and on June 30 Arlene " comma before "Arlene". YE Pacific Hurricane 04:12, 21 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • The MH is really good; however, it needs to be updated via TCR. YE Pacific Hurricane 04:12, 21 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • " Throughout the country, Arlene resulted in 22 confirmed fatalities and left one person missing." source? YE Pacific Hurricane 04:12, 21 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • "[28] In the wake of Arlene, one fatality was confirmed in Chiapas due to the effects of the storm.[1]" redundancy, either the first part or the last part should be removed. YE Pacific Hurricane 04:12, 21 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Parts of the impact could use some copyediting. For example, "They were both extended shortly after" sounds weird. YE Pacific Hurricane 04:12, 21 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • "Prior to impact, the IMSS activated a contingency plan for risk zones in the states of Veracruz and Tamaulipas." IMO "Prior to impact seems odd. In addition, spell out IMSS on it's first usage per MOS. YE Pacific Hurricane 04:12, 21 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • "Damage from the storm surmounted Mex$67 million (US$5.8 million) in Tamaulipas.[50]" wtf, what does "Mex" mean. YE Pacific Hurricane 04:12, 21 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Remember, I'm not the person who created the article, let alone add that. I also don't really appreciate foul language on this review, can you tone the level down a bit? The "Mex" is trying to point out Arlene's total in Mexican Currency. I'll change it. STO12 (talk) 16:49, 21 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I know. Tell me when you have changed it. Thanks. YE Pacific Hurricane 16:58, 21 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • "Swollen rivers in El Arenal and Huejutla drowned two people, who were later confirmed dead.[52] In the wake of the disaster, the government of Hidalgo allocated a total Mex$17 million (US$1.45 million) in order to initiate rehabilitation work.[53] " see above. In better shape than Harvey, but still some work needed. It's close though. YE Pacific Hurricane 04:12, 21 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I have fixed the issues not addressed above. Please pass/fail or reply speedily as this review has been open way longer than it should have been. TropicalAnalystwx13 (talk) 17:34, 24 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Meh, I'm used to the days of no GAN review limits, but I am passing this article. YE Pacific Hurricane 22:34, 24 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
