Material added to the article needs to be based on published, encyclopedia-quality sources[edit]

So far, this article has only two published sources. While it would be good to add more information, Wikipedia policies (WP:V and WP:NPR) mean that reliable sources need to be given for any factual statement. That's why I am removing some of the interesting and possibly accurate material just added[1], to wit that Bounds

"was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity.
Popular on campus and famous for his sharp wit, Bounds excelled in both campus politics and related Political Science Degree.
While attending the University of Oregon he met and briefly dated
John McCain's national communications director Jill Hazelbaker.
The team was recently nicknamed the "dynamic Duck duo" in an Oregonian article."

Looking back at the Oregonian article, the statement that Bounds and Hazelbaker once dated is in there, so that is an acceptable addition. The statement that the "Dynamic Duck duo" is a recent nickname in the article is also clearly factual. But the fraternity membership is not attested. Statements like "Popular on campus and famous for his sharp wit, Bounds excelled in both campus politics and related Political Science Degree" are inappropriate puffery not suited to an encyclopedia article--a violation of WP:NPOV. So, if you want to add material about Tucker Bounds please do, but please base it on published sources rather than your own first-hand knowledge and opinions. betsythedevine (talk) 07:47, 5 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It would have been useful to add the content and a full cite to the Oregonian article, so that someone else doesn't have to. This article is pretty bare - aren't there sources for his birth year and place, major in college and graduation year? It's hardly a worthy article to keep, despite his national position.Parkwells (talk) 16:07, 13 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Others besides CNN's Campbell Brown[edit]

Also had "unpleasant" interviews with MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell and FOX News' Megyn KellyBoris Badinov44 (talk) 05:24, 29 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Comments on Daily Show and WP:BLP[edit]

On the Oct. 28 (?) Daily Show, Jon Stewart and Campbell Brown talked briefly about Tucker Bounds. Several attempts have been made to add their remarks to this bio, in each case based on videos or other sources that fail WP:V. Adding such material based on such sources violates Wikipedia's policies about biographies of living persons. If this material were notable, some real news media would have covered it and you could quote them. Also, adding instances of people saying bad things about Bounds without any instances of people saying good things violates WP:NPOV. I saw that Daily Show episode myself, it was very funny. But quotes from it don't belong in this bio unless real media are publishing those quotes. betsythedevine (talk) 14:32, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

agree - bounds is potentially the most inept and incompetent public spokesperson for a campaign any of us have ever seen, but thats only my opinion and doesn't belong in this article. I also tried to find this video on youtube and couldnt, so it definitely doesnt seem like a notable event.70.53.51.18 (talk) 15:56, 4 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Improving timeliness and accuracy[edit]

Recent edits to this page were intended to make this entry more current and more accurate, as well as to otherwise comply with wikipedia's policies on living persons (such as persons only notable for one event). Hope to work with interested persons in achieving these goals. Molly1530 (talk) 04:43, 19 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The most recent set of changes seems to accomplish the goals of updating the article. Unfortunately, the Sacramento Bee article that was a source for much of the article now seems to be a dead link. Wikipedia sources don't necessarily have to be online, but it would be good to locate or replace this source if possible. betsythedevine (talk) 11:42, 19 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Lead[edit]

Inappropriate to describe his two campaigns in Lead as unsuccessful, especially as this is not sourced. The Lead should be more factual, not qualified - and the campaigns were not unsuccessful until after the elections were run. He had unsuccessful candidates.Parkwells (talk) 16:10, 13 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
