Changes to Hedeman's position[edit]

Uricarrillo94 (talk · contribs) Hi, you've left behind a slight coding error on the reference you changed. Take a look at the References section and you will see in big red letters the following:

Cite error: The named reference tuffhedeman was invoked but never defined (see the help page).

Also, please consider not making a huge amount of tiny edits. It makes it hard to follow the changes you made and many might think you are trying to inflate your edit count. I mean really, did you need to make 17? Really? How did you find out about Hedeman leaving the CBR and running said business? Could that be used as a source? Tuff Hedeman[edit]

Hello, there. I regularly visit the CBR website. A few days ago, I noticed the CBR event that was supposed to take place at on January 27th disappeared from the upcoming events list. Two days later, I went back and saw that the majority of previously listed upcoming events had disappeared from the list. I thought something was going on here. I then figured that it had to do with Tuff Hedeman, and sure enough, it did. He was no longer mentioned in the “About” page, his “Staff” page was gone, plus the majority of the upcoming events that were gone were events Hedeman himself produced. Those events have his name in the title. I follow Hedeman on Facebook. He made a video linking his new website. I visited it, and lo and behold, he has started his own bull riding tour. I left the website link in the “External Links” section. I apologize about the citation error. I tried several times to fix it, but to no avail. Not your fault, so I shouldn't take it out on you. Yes, how do you cite removals from a source, I see what you mean. I'll look at it. Also, I will see if I can fix the error in the citation. Sometimes those can be tricky. Happy to do it. Again, sorry. Will let you know the results. Thanks for updating the article as I was not aware of Hedeman leaving the organization. Uricarrillo94 (talk · contribs) You had this: <ref name="tuffhedeman"> in the article and the rest of the citation was missing. A bot "fixed" it by adding the closing / to it to close it. However, you don't define a reference by ending it with "/>" so the bot did not help. I removed this code. If you want to add a reference there you'll have to make it a complete reference, like the one in your new article. And you can't rely on external references to do the work of inline references. External references are just nice to haves. In fact, if you a source for an inline reference, you can no longer use in EL; it is considered a duplicate. Anyway, the external link doesn't seem to have much to use for the inline changes. And, looking at the CBR site, there isn't anything I can find there either. No news article about him leaving or anything like that. You didn't see anything like that? I will look more later. dawnleelynn^(talk) 20:01, 27 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello there. As far as I know, there are no articles that mention Tuff Hedeman leaving CBR. I was expecting that either the organization or Hedeman himself would mention it, but it seems that neither party is allowed to mention each other by name publicly after the split. @Uricarrillo94: Thanks for letting me know. I can't find any sources so far either. I think there may be an existing source or two in this article that points to removed articles on the CBR site. I used the checklinks tool [1] to determine that a link in this article that is used for source still points to his staff position page which is now empty. The link is [2] and it is strange that they did not pull the page but just left it there empty. I'll have to remove that page, but the content should remain that he worked there, and I'll have to see if maybe it's in the Internet Archive Wayback Machine and we can point to there instead. I'll do this tomorrow and let you know. Like you said, they are removing all traces. I can't expect you source what isn't there. Thanks a bunch. dawnleelynn^(talk) 06:14, 29 January 2018 (UTC) P.S. I added that link in to support that text you added. But I also changed a little bit of text around. The beginning section is the lead section and its supposed to be a summary of the article. It's going to repeat in summary what's in the article so you don't need to source it as it is sourced later in the article. So I just arranged things around there, moved some of the longer bits below and left a summary of them in the lead. Hopefully, it makes sense when you view using the differences view under History. The wayback machine is great, because it gives us a way to get contact that has disappeared from the web...sometimes. But it needs discernment of course. Sometimes the information is out of date. Article has source for 1993 BRO World Finals[edit]

Uricarrillo94 I just looked at your edit and read the source that is cited for this material. It's [3]. It says, "At the 1993 Bull Riders Only Finals in Long Beach, he not only earned a scoring ride but was marked a 95, just five points away from a perfect ride." I missed some of this when I added it before. Anyway, so your edit is already sourced by this article. And I also believe we can use this article to cite the 1993 BRO World Finals in your new Bull Riders Only article as well. And maybe some other places, perhaps in Bodacious' article too. I'm working on these unsourced edits. I have yours and another editors' to do in the aforementioned articles as well as in the article Rodeo. And hopefully, we will eventually be able to get better sources than videos. it's so helpful to have someone who actually attended some of these events because the sources are so sparse for this time period. And I can see why it would be frustrating to edit the articles because you have all this knowledge and you can't just add it because it needs to be sourced. But we will get there.
