Controversy section needed for fired librarian[edit]

A controversy section or something similar is needed. People in Lindsay are outraged that a library employee was fired days after she called the police on a child p*rn viewer against library management orders not to do so. The Lindsay government presented the fired librarian with an award from Family Friendly Libraries, and people come out in droves to support the librarian. The City wrote a stinging letter to the County about how local control is obviously impossible and immediate changes are needed. The County responded by saying the firing was for legitimate business reasons but no reason is specified. Legal action may be involved.

Notably, the County employee supervisor of the librarian who was fired reported said the fired librarian was not "loyal" to the County. The City is now rebelling against the County.

The story has reached many major media sources, like the LA Times, Fox News, Inside Edition, the Fresno Bee, and of course local papers. Since I was mentioned in one of the articles, I'm sure it would be best if I stayed out of the writing of this section. However, I do raise the issue as it has grown to be quite significant and should in my opinion be included on this wiki page, and I provide for others a whole mess of links for editors to choose as they see fit: http://del.icio.us/plan2succeed/LindsayCA - yes, they are my collection of links, but they are the best existing resource on links to stories on this issue that I know--already there are 84 links from which to choose and I keep adding more each day.

Perhaps someone would wish to use this quote as well: "As for obscenity and child pornography, prosecutors and police have adequate tools to enforce criminal laws. Libraries are not a component of law enforcement efforts...." Source: American Library Association. http://www.ala.org/ala/oif/challengesupport/dealing/internetusepolicy.pdf

If I see no one has taken action on this request in a reasonable amount of time, then I'll attempt to craft some NPOV/encyclopedic language. --LegitimateAndEvenCompelling (talk) 17:30, 29 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

As this happened in Lindsay, CA, it would be inappropriate for a reference here.DocOfSoc (talk) 02:15, 14 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Education[edit]

This section is about education in Tulare County, California not the City. I am proposing to move the entire section to the County article. TerriersFan (talk) 16:09, 21 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
