Merge?[edit]

53-65 torpedo is a subtype of the Type 53 torpedo. At least, the "53-66" article should be renamed "Type 53-65 torpedo", as per SOP. But it could also become a section here, and I think it should do so, because the main Type 53 article gives not enough information. Adding the 53-65 data will give the reader a better idea of what we're dealing with here, especially since in how far other models diverge from the 53-65's parameters is outlined already. Perhaps[edit]

I have some confusion here I want to clarify. I was the original writer of the 53-65 torpedo page and since there are 65mm torpedoes in the Russian navy, does the '65' in 53-65 signify that it can fit in both 53mm tubes and 65mm tubes or that the torpedo was first put into service in 1965? Either way, I feel like I want to clarify with a better source such as Jane's or something before the merge. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Chazly413 (talkcontribs) 01:37, 7 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

=====NO=====[edit]

The "type" is actually "Type 65".... "53" refers to the general class of 53-cm torpedoes-- which includes most Soviet/Russian torpedoes... So 53-65 means "53-cm, Type 65"...
