Todo[edit]

More impact (you say there were 115 deaths, though you only mention 85 of them), fix the rampant spelling errors (I know spelling errors doesn't have an effect yet, but there's way too many of them), and more intro. Hurricanehink 00:36, 9 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This looks B-class to me. íslenska hurikein #12(samtal) 19:55, 7 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
For such a damaging and recent hurricane, the standards are higher. Thus, it's still start. Hurricanehink (talk) 20:02, 7 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Storm track[edit]

Im requesting that someone create a storm path for Typhoon Maemi (as well as the other typhoons in the seasonal article from 1960 to 2005). Storm05 20:40, 15 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • "The eyewall soon after passed over the Japanese island of Miyako-jima on September 10," "soon after"? YE Pacific Hurricane 01:32, 2 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
    • Yep, referring to the time period a short time after it reached the peak. --♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 15:22, 2 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • "With warm waters," wasters can't be warm; however, ocean temperature can be. So change that to "With warm ocean temperatures," YE Pacific Hurricane 01:32, 2 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
    • Water can certainly be warm or not. Just ask the sink in my bathroom that never gets warm. --♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 15:22, 2 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • "The JMA upgraded Maemi to a severe tropical storm " what's that? Link to the TC scales page :P YE Pacific Hurricane 01:32, 2 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
    • Why? I don't for tropical depression or tropical storm? --♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 15:22, 2 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • "eventually striking the coast of Alaska on September 21.[9]" link to Alaska, it's not that well known. YE Pacific Hurricane 01:32, 2 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • "excluding during the 2 hour passage of the eye," axe the "during". YE Pacific Hurricane 01:32, 2 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • "Newspapers considered Maemi the strongest typhoon to affect Okinawa since 1968" I don't think the UPI is a newspaper actually, it counts as a news wire. YE Pacific Hurricane 01:32, 2 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • "Wind gusts reached 116 km/h (72 mph) in Akita, the third highest September wind gust at the station.[16] " mind axing this? Third is kinda trivial IMO. YE Pacific Hurricane 01:32, 2 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • "which was one of the strongest storms to strike South Korea after Maemi.[7] " was it the strongest or "one of the strongest"? YE Pacific Hurricane 01:32, 2 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
    • The records are a bit contradictory on this. Some say that Maemi was stronger, but that's based on JTWC data, whereas the Maemi data is based on an estimate. I'm more comfortable leaving the writing as it is due to the sources I found. --♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 15:22, 2 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • "900 tons" metric units to satisfy the non-American? YE Pacific Hurricane 01:32, 2 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
    • Actually, I'm not sure whether the source is metric or imperial, so I don't wanna assume one or the other. "Tons" is an unusual unit. And it's not like the conversion would be that important either way. --♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 15:22, 2 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • "In Masan, the storm flooded an underground shopping center, killing 12 people.[33] " mind switching this to "In Masan, the storm flooded an underground shopping center, resulting in 12 fatalities.[33] " You use "people" quite a bit in this article. YE Pacific Hurricane 01:32, 2 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • "To prevent additional outbreaks, the Korean National Institute of Health sent 1,000 workers to storm-damaged areas.[61] " link to the "Korean National Institute of Health"? YE Pacific Hurricane 01:32, 2 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • "The Gupo bridge damaged during the storm was repaired in 2007.[67]" why is the G capitalized? YE Pacific Hurricane 01:32, 2 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the review! --♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 15:22, 2 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
