Is this article really necessary? I personally think there should be two articles of lists for the Allied and Axis forces during the Battle of Normandy; if it gets too large for the Allies, then it could be split into country-specific lists. SoLando 01:38, 28 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  • Have you made those articles? WikiDon 01:55, 28 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I've just started preparing a list. The reason I think this article would be better incorporated into another article is that this article is too small; it would be cool if the divisions' sub-units could be added and this page moved to something like List of U.S. forces in the Normandy Campaign, therefore giving enough content for it to stand-alone as an article. What do you think? SoLando 02:05, 28 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Well, Wikipedia has thousands of "list" pages, lists of cities, dams, airlines, etc. So, this is a "list" and not article. But, that being said, a more comprehensive list would add more value. I would suggest that you make your new lists before we move forward. There is also room for multiple lists. I would like to see your complete list. You might talk with other users making unit articles:

I know, but I tend to use "list" and "article" interchangeably on Wikipedia, just so you know :-) Ok, I've completed the list - its at List of Allied forces in the Normandy Campaign.
The list is as comprehensive as I could make without the aid of any books on the Normandy campaign. Unfortunately, I could not find the higher formations of some regiments in the British Army and the Belgian and Dutch brigades. I omitted corps' as I was not able to find OOBs for some of them. I also left the US section as a "See Also" directing to this list as I would like to see some imput here.
Take care SoLando 04:45, 30 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
