Photoelectric[edit]

Added 'photoelectric'. The International System was definitely a standardized system (though photographic -- the polar sequence was defined in 1938, or so), as was the RGU system (by Becker in 1946). Athulin 09:50, 8 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Some additional requirements appear to have been forgotten: Johnson specified that an 1P21 photomultiplier must be used, that the telescope must be an aluminized reflecting telescope, and that it must be at an altitude of around 7000 feet. Gibberish[edit]

I find the final sentences of the introduction cryptic and awkward. It reads like an automatic translation from some other language. What does this mean? " two subtractions are then performed in a specific order to classify it in the more technical, formulaic values given by this system. It thereby can focus on the less apparent, when unmodified for viewing, first two groups of these wavelengths to the human eye. This in turn provides maximal contrast with other readings (values) of apparent or (when adjusted for distance) absolute magnitude."

I have no clue what that is supposed to mean. I have deleted it and inserted something about colour indices which the subtractions bit at least seems to be hinting at. Lithopsian (talk) 16:08, 5 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
