Is the date really the 21st, because other sources have it as the 31st which is a Wednesday, which is usually when UFNs are scheduled. Even MMAJunkie has an article saying that when Brandon Vera posted on his Twitter that he was fighting on the 21st, it was an improper date. Trunks8719 (talk) 23:46, 17 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

From the source on the referenced page, "And while MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) was originally told Vera's Tuesday night Twitter message was issued with an improper date, those same sources now say "The Truth" was dead on. Jones and Vera have verbally agreed to meet on March 21 in an unannounced event that's planned as the UFC's first live event with its new broadcast partner, Versus."(Justinsane15 (talk) 00:44, 18 December 2009 (UTC))[reply]

Event Name

[edit]

Are we going to call this a Fight Night then? It currently has a name that does not reference the "Fight Night" name. Paralympiakos (talk) 13:33, 11 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I think it should be called a Fight Night. However, according to MMAJunkie.com, it is listed as UFC on Versus 1: Vera vs. Jones. So maybe it should be separated into its own group, but I'm not sure. Trunks8719 (talk) 23:32, 14 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Look at UFN 22, specifically the source for Nelson/Struve. That calls it UFN 21. I think this event now needs a name change, but am willing to wait for a wider consensus Paralympiakos (talk) 23:33, 14 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, it should just be renamed to UFN 21, because the UFC events that are aired on Spike, like UFC 105, don't say "UFC on Spike." Trunks8719 (talk) 23:43, 14 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe it should be just left as it is until the March 31 UFN is posted on the UFC's website, then we will know whether it is 21 or 22. Trunks8719 (talk) 23:47, 14 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Well, you've just wiped my newest message. Sigh. I'm proposing that 22 is renamed 21 and that this stays as it is. I believe this is a totally separate event from Fight Nights. Paralympiakos (talk) 23:47, 14 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Alright thats fine. Trunks8719 (talk) 23:51, 14 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

UFC on Versus 1

[edit]

If the event is going to be called UFC on Versus 1 here- for consistency shouldn't the article be simply UFC on Versus 1 and not UFC on Versus 1: Vera vs. Jones? The fight nights are called by the main event, but the numbered UFC events articles do not go by their number.(Justinsane15 (talk) 23:57, 15 January 2010 (UTC))[reply]

I think it was originally called UFC on Versus 1 and that they've changed the name of it today. Could also be a figment of my imagination. What exactly is it you are proposing though? An article change or a change to the name in the template? (or both...?) Paralympiakos (talk) 00:01, 16 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I propose that if in the future we have UFC on Versus 1, UFC on Versus 2, we keep it without the subtitles such as UFC 1, UFC 2, etc. (Justinsane15 (talk) 00:04, 16 January 2010 (UTC))[reply]
You see, looking at this now, with hindsight, I'm thinking we should rename this "UFC on Versus: Vera vs. Jones" and drop the number. That way, it keeps consistency with Fight Night articles.
An example would be "UFC on Versus: Vera vs. Jones" also referred to as "UFC on Versus 1"
I'm not quite sure what you mean by "UFC 1, UFC 2" as that would get confused with the proper cards of years back. Could you explain further? Paralympiakos (talk) 00:06, 16 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Well I mean we either number them "UFC on Versus 1", "UFC on Versus 2", etc. OR as you said "UFC on Versus: Vera vs. Jones" also referred to as "UFC on Versus 1" like we do for the UFNs.(Justinsane15 (talk) 00:12, 16 January 2010 (UTC))[reply]

To be honest, the current article name is what we use now for main UFC cards, e.g. UFC 110: Nogueira vs. Velasquez or UFC 111: St.Pierre vs. Hardy. I'm not entirely sure what the wisdom of just calling it "UFC on Versus 1" would be. Personally (though I'm willing to hear other people's opinions on this), I'd say leave it be or rename it "UFC on Versus: Vera vs. Jones" also referred to as......etc.

Like I say though, whatever the majority want.... Paralympiakos (talk) 00:16, 16 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The articles are still called "UFC 110", "UFC 111" (Justinsane15 (talk) 00:46, 16 January 2010 (UTC))[reply]

Its only this one thats getting special treatment as a # and a subtitle in the article name.(Justinsane15 (talk) 00:47, 16 January 2010 (UTC))[reply]

Name Change

[edit]

The UFC website has now changed the name of the event from "UFC on Versus 1: Vera vs. Jones" to "UFC Live: Vera vs. Jones". Should the name be changed here also??? Trunks8719 (talk) 01:06, 2 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah. Go for it
