SPRN (СПРН) just seems to mean the early warning system, in the same way that SKKP (СККП) means the space monitoring system. It's not specific to this satellite. Secretlondon (talk) 23:15, 22 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure these are interesting (and would be original research) but:

Name

[edit]

I think the full name should be in the lead section, although the satellites are more commonly known by the abbreviation, that is their actual name, so it should be mentioned in the main text, rather than as a footnote. --W. D. Graham 17:21, 25 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I thought it was too much and too long. I'm looking to see what the manual of style says. Wikipedia:Lead_section#Clutter is an exaggerated example but as it is never known by its full Russian name in English (and it's so long) I've been moving alternative names to footnotes for readability. They are still in the article and will be picked up by Google, but stop it being a slog to get to the end of the first sentence. Secretlondon (talk) 20:07, 25 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
