Since the damage was isolated to the California, crew members aboard believe a tornado struck the ship, severing six standard mooring lines (doubled), two storm cables, multiple power cables for the nuclear reactor, water and sewage lines, and buckling and dislocating the brow. Additional damage to the stern was caused by a harbor tugboat approaching too fast and slamming into the stern transom, buckling at least one frame. Releasing the anchor probably stopped the ship from colliding with another warship on the adjacent pier. Submitted by then STG1 James T.
