USCGC Nourmahal in Popular Culture
[edit]The USCGC Nourmahal (WPG-72) was featured in an episode of the TV cartoon Scooby-Doo. This was in the series Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!, specifically episode 14 Go Away Ghost Ship created 13 December 1969 List of Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! episodes. The only specific clue given in the episode (as I recall) was the hull number W-72 on the white vessel crewed by uniformed characters, at the end of the episode.
I do not know if this notable enough for inclusion in article, but perhaps interesting for Scooby Doo fans and old shipmates. I added a link to the article: U.S. Coast Guard Historian's Office http://www.uscg.mil/history/webcutters/Nourmahal_PG72.pdf Scooby Dooby Dooo ! and Semper Paratus Tjlynnjr (talk) 23:57, 12 April 2015 (UTC) .
Earlier Nourmahal
[edit]There appears to be an earlier, smaller Nourmahal (LOA 160' 8", 25' beam) built for Astor in the early 1920s to a design by Cox & Stevens at the Robert Jacob yard, City Island, N.Y.
