Deletions by IP users[edit]

An IP user has deleted reference to the UOC-USA's lawsuit against Holy Ascension and to the fact that some parishes have left the UOC-USA to join (or return to) the UOC-KP on the article, while another IP user deleted the information below. I can see no reason why that information should NOT be included in the article, and deleting sourced information from the talk page could be considered vandalism. If this continues, it may be necessary to request that this article be locked to prevent edits by IP users. BochdanK (talk) 12:03, 3 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Holy Ascension Litigation[edit]

The Litigation was filed BY Archbishop Antony et. al. AGAINST the parishioners of Holy Ascension.

On March 14, 2005 the Honorable Deborah T. Poritz, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of New Jersey signed an order denying the petition of the UOC-USA, thereby affirming the rights of the parishioners of Holy Ascension to keep their church.

On June 23, 2008 the New Jersey Superior Court dismissed the Consistory's second suit with prejudice.

Note: the New Jersey Supreme Court has never heard this case. It denied certification of the first appeal, which is not the same as deciding an issue in a party's favor. The Supreme Court can deny certification for many reasons. Thus far, this case has been heard by two separate panels of the Appellate Division. The unwillingness of the New Jersey Supreme Court to hear the matter leaves the lower decision intact and binding on the parties. My understanding is that the lower court ruled against the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA, which is a victory for the parishes that desired to affiliate with the Kyvian Patriarch and take the church property with them.John Paul Parks (talk) 18:03, 22 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Number of Parishes[edit]

The first paragraph of this article states that the UOC-USA includes "about 105 parishes and missions", while the final paragraph states that "In total, there are about 85 parishes, two monasteries, and one seminary". South America[edit]

Should the Southern American parishes under Bishop Jeremiah be included as part of the UOCofUSA? I think so, but I can't find any source linking him directly to the UOCofUSA.
