BAMBI

[edit]

The article says it is styled this way, but I never saw it like that in Germany. Looks very strange. Jmar67 (talk) 10:47, 19 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Bundesverdienstkreuz

[edit]

This has normally been rendered as "Order of Merit...". The phrasing "Cross of the Order of Merit..." seems redundant. I deleted in article. Jmar67 (talk) 10:58, 19 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

There are several classes of the order: Cross (lowest), Officer's Cross (next higher), Commander's Cross etc. See also: Category:Recipients of the Cross of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany and https://www.auswaertiges-amt.de/blob/215266/5c40f9ea236ed39858e8c2e8194ba175/ordensstufen-data.pdf Grimes2 (talk) 11:03, 19 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
You have a point. I just don't remember seeing that phrasing before. Verdienstorden der Bundesrepublik Deutschland [de] equates "Bundesverdienstkreuz" with "Verdienstorden ...". While the German Kienzle article does say "am Bande", it seems unnecessary to make that distinction here, when it is the Orden itself that is important. Also, "Cross of the ..." is ambiguous, because they're all crosses. The category for the Officer's Cross is titled "Category:Officers Crosses of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany", which doesn't make much sense as a list of the recipients thereof. Would like Gerda's opinion. Jmar67 (talk) 11:54, 19 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
