ASSALAMUALAIKUM MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS, —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.105.89.149 (talk) 20:59, 18 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

After the intro., the different types of Umra should be (briefly ?) described and obviously the rituals should be mentioned. Digging deeper, maybe it's not too difficult to find reasons as to why certain rituals are performed during the Hajj but not the Umra (e. g. stoning the devil), and this could also be mentioned. ---Mpatel (talk) 13:30, August 20, 2005 (UTC)

Urgent Request

[edit]

Can I please urge readers to check (and re-check) the sources from which they are quoting anything; in particular, from the Qur'an, as there are many translations. I just removed a quote (from someone who claimed it was from the 'Koran, chapter 2 , verse 153') that I could not verify. I checked 3 translations and could not find the alleged verse, although I'm sure it's in the Qur'an somewhere.

Another point: some time ago, I put Safa and Marwah together in the same article: Al-Safa and Al-Marwah. Safa actually takes us somewhere else... ---Mpatel (talk) 09:17, 25 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Bible ref

[edit]

Anyone wants to add the bible ref of Hagar runing after water? --Striver 13:42, 29 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

It may be worth mentioning. Do you know the reference ? Actually, it may not be particularly relevant to this article. Maybe the Zamzam well article is where this should go (if it isn't already there). MP (talk) 10:26, 12 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Revamp of article

[edit]

I'm attempting to rewrite this article by distinguishing between the 2 types of Umrah (now in the article). I happen to have an issue form the journal 'Al Tawhid' which contains an article on 'Hajj According to the 5 schools (the 4 Sunni madhabs + Imamiyyah) of Islamic Fiqh (part 1) (the 4 Sunni madhabs + Imamiyyah). I was surprised to find this and the other part(s) in the electronic journal reference that I added, which I found from what I think is a Shia site (?). The article contains some superb details of both Sunni and Shia views regarding the 3 types of Hajj and 2 of Umra. This source could be used for extensive expansion of this article as well as the articles Hajj, tawaf and others relating to pilgrimage. MP (talk) 10:26, 12 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Picture of pilgrim

[edit]

I have removed the picture prominently showing a smiling pilgrim with a small Ka'bah in the background. This is entirely inappropriate for an encyclopedia as the focus is clearly upon the person and not the subject of the article. DO NOT replace this picture with out at least discussing the issues I have raised—Wikipedia is not a depository for tourist pictures. Xargon666x6 (talk) 22:16, 27 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Costs

[edit]

Some information about typical costs paid for those visiting Kaaba should be added somewhere. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.101.101.193 (talk) 00:54, 1 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
