[edit]

Hi there! I noticed that the title of this article had recently been changed to remove the year. I wanted to bring that up and see if anyone else thinks that should be reverted. The United States Government Printing Office's official copy of the final bill reads in section 1 "This Act may be cited as the 'Undetectable Firearms Act of 1988'." Other bills, like the one that was passed by the House a few days ago, also refer to it by including the year. (See this). What do other people think? Thanks. I think per WP:COMMONNAME the shorter name makes more sense, but I suppose either way there would be a redirect so no strong opinion. Gaijin42 (talk) 15:54, 5 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
That's fair. I guess I tend to prefer precision, in part because our government seems to like to use the same name (or nearly identical names) over and over again. I did a search at govtrack.us and got these results. There is an "Undetectable Firearms Act of 2013" pending in DC local government, plus a few similarly named ones that include the word "Modernization". I guess with redirects it doesn't matter too much. I am going to change the name in the article text though. Thanks. HistoricMN44 (talk) 16:28, 5 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
