Troy - Union City feud?

[edit]

I came across an amusing story on TNGenWeb regarding the dispute between Union City and Troy over the county seat. It stated that one morning in 1890, an armed gang of Union City residents marched to Troy, busted into the courthouse, seized the county records, and took them back to Union City. If someone has a reliable source for this story, it would be worth mentioning in the article. Bms4880 (talk) 21:03, 26 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I'm pretty sure this story is correct. If you look at the 1890 microfilms located at the library in Union City, it does have a newspaper article about this, it is also stated in the few Obion County/Union City books, there are more sources. I am not 100% positive but I'm pretty sure this is correct. President542 (talk) 03:47, 17 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
