Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate.  Ganbaruby! (Say hi!) 08:56, 8 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

My source of this information is the Air Force Times. I also feel it would be beneficial to list the four Air Force Office of Special Investigation (AFOSI) Special Agents killed. That information is provided in the same Air Force Times article. That url is as follows:

https://www.airforcetimes.com/news/pentagon-congress/2015/12/23/six-airmen-killed-in-afghanistan-identified/. Ssgtmoore007 (talk) 09:29, 13 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

This edit request is missing the first part of my request. The request asks to have the names of the two Airmen killed on 21 December 2015. TSgt Joseph G. Lemm and SSgt Louis M. Bonacasa. Ssgtmoore007 (talk) 09:33, 13 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: We generally don't include the names of casualties unless they are themselves notable. Thanks. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 17:16, 13 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The same argument for years.

[edit]

This is the same argument we've had here for years. Someone keeps editing trying to make Security Forces Infantry when they are not and never have been. People have implied they are similar and made comparisons, but these are taken out of context and misplaced as facts. Nobody in the Military considers USAF-SF Infantry. They guard bases, that is their mission. Infantry's mission is "to close with, and destroy enemies of the United States, in Close Combat". That's both for the USMC and US Army.

Content: "Air Base Security Battalions, formed to be the Army Air Force‘s ―infantry,‖ marked the first recognition that air bases in combat theaters required specially trained and equipped defenders. These battalions can rightfully claim the distinction of being the ancestors of today‘s Air Force Security Forces units."

Issue: Although Air Base Security Battalions are the ancestors of USAF-SF, they are not USAF-SF. With that said, the quotation around infantry ("infantry") implies similarity, not that they are infantry. This was taken out of context and used as a definitive source for calling USAF-SF Infantry. Furthermore, this was in reference to doctrine of World War II and not modern doctrine. There is no modern Military Field Manuals or Training Manuals that call USAF-SF Infantry.

This has been an issue on this page for years. And people continue to misrepresent USAF-SF as Infantry. Infantry Captures, Destroys, Deters enemy forces, conducts reconnaissance, helps mobilize troops and weaponry and conducts ground combat. The USAF SF does not have that mission, at most the only thing they do is deter enemy forces and conduct reconnaissance.

If we can establish that Cav scouts are not infantry, and are their own Job, why can we not do the same for USAF-SF. TheNathanMuir (talk) 17:30, 7 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Air Force states they're not infantry:
"Functional Roles and Core Competencies SF Airmen fulfill three core mission areas, or roles, at Air Force installations: law enforcement, physical security of aircraft and other critical operational assets, and infantry-like air base defense."
https://www.airuniversity.af.edu/Portals/10/AUPress/Papers/wp_0013_marttala_in_lieu_of.pdf
Further proof of my argument:
https://chuckhawks.com/airmen_not_infantry.htm
"This training is much more labor intensive than the entry level course the entry level Security Forces airmen at the base participate in." - A basic infantry course a Army NG unit put on is harder than USAF-SF courses.
https://www.178wing.ang.af.mil/News/Article/3566750/the-178th-security-forces-training-at-fort-barfoot/
Even the USAF head honcho doesn't say they are infantry: "We size up very similar to the Army’s lightest of the light infantry," said Brig. Gen. Andrea Tullos, the Air Force’s “top cop” and a career security forces officer. “We have strong expeditionary roots,” she said. "We’re somewhat of a blend between a light infantry unit and a military police company, and we’re not as expensive as a lot of the Air Force’s weapon systems, so I like to say we bring a lot of bang for the buck.”"
"https://www.airforcetimes.com/news/your-air-force/2018/11/26/air-force-base-defenders-upgrade-their-weapons-training-and-fitness-standards-to-meet-near-peer-threats/"
And more discussion of how theyre not infantry "“What we’re not trying to do is build an infantry battalion,” explained Holmes. “There will be tasks that will require us to understand infantry [tactics, techniques, and procedures],” he said, but the emphasis on net-centric operations, C4ISR, and control of fires will ensure the end result is airmen’s work."
https://www.airandspaceforces.com/article/0106security/
More arguments they are NOT infantry: "And given their wartime mission as quasi-infantry for the defense of air bases, they possess relatively more advanced ground combat skills than do most other Airmen." :https://www.airuniversity.af.edu/Portals/10/AUPress/Papers/wp_0013_marttala_in_lieu_of.pdf

in the end just because they are SIMILAR and conduct SIMILAR roles does not make them infantry. No difference than Infantry vs Cav Scouts, Infantry vs Special Forces, Infantry vs Engineers.
