"Field Service Rank Insignia"[edit]

The subject chart is undated and unreferenced (cited), however the rank inginia shown as "11th Grade" was incorrectly label as "Private." I have changed this entry to "Lance Corporal/Private First Class (1920)."

Until 1920 the singe chevron was the insignia of lance corporal and it became PFC in 1920, at no time in US Army history has the rank of private been indicated by the single chevron. For anyone interested, I have included the history of the rank insignia for both lance corporal and PFC on their article pages and have posted an extensive monograph (re the "lance corporal vs PFC" debate) on the Talk:Lance Corporal Page under "US Army Lance Corporal Rank." This monograph incudes detailed research gleaned from official US Army documents (Army Regulations, General Orders, Tables of Organization, War Dept Circulars, etc., army-related periodicals (Army Times, & PENTAGRAM [sic] NEWS), other documents, and anecdotal evidence, as well as a summary of my email communication with the US Army Institute of Heraldry. Vandalism[edit]

Seems like there's quite a bit of vandalism to clean up in this article. Shadow of the Starlit Sky (talk) 16:56, 6 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Nevermind, cleaned it up. Shadow of the Starlit Sky (talk) 17:49, 6 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
