Location update and bias

[edit]

I am currently in Donetsk. I am a lecturer from Barcelona who was teaching in Kaunas and Vilnius (Lithuania). I moved to Donetsk at the beginning of July 2016 to teach next fall semester 2016 and spring semester 2017. I have given already some interviews to the local media of Donetsk. I include here the interview (in Russian language) broadcasted by the local television channel "OTPLOT TV" (here: Interview OTPLOT JULY 2016 ) and in English broadcasted by the local channel "Novorossia Today" (here:Interview Novorossia Today (English) ). You can find more information about me in my personal site (here: http://mpuertas.blogspot.com). The articles published in the Wikipedia regarding to the Luhansk and Donetsk universities and higher education institutions are highly biased. They were probably written by somebody working for the pro-maidan government of Petro Poroshenko. The articles contain huge quantity of false data and misinformation. The universities in the areas controlled by the anti-maidan forces are working properly in both cities. Most of the professors, teachers and personnel remained here and also most of the local students. I can tell you that the Donestk National Technical University (DonNTU), the biggest and most pretigious institution in the Donbass, was bombed several times in 2014 by the pro-maidan forces using mortars, artillery and even ballistic missils Toshka U. I know this information because I have been in the Rectorate of DoNTU. I interviewed the head of the Donetsk National Technical University professor Sergey Dzhura.Interview to professor Sergey Dzhura. Donetsk National Technical University. He is an Engineer who was born in Donetsk, he studied in DoNTU and has been for many years the head of the international office in this university. He has been dealing with Tempus and Erasmus programmes and also was coordinating the international students. On the doors and walls of his office still are visible the holes left by the bullets of the pro-maidan forces that attacked the university when the students, teachers, professors and personnel were inside. The office of the Pro-Rector was totally destroyed as the video included in this post shows. Attacking the university placed in the center of Donetsk may constitute a war crime and should be investigate. More than 80 people were injured. Some of them were killed included one professor of DonNTU.

The pro-maidan goverment of Petro Poroshenko has opened in small towns out of the Donbass some facilities with very few students or professors. The students attending those facilities are not from Donetsk or Luhansk. And very few professors working in those facilities are coming from Luhansk or Donetsk. Crossing the de facto border between the territory controlled by the pro-maidan forces and the territory controlled by the anti-maidan forces (called "terrorists" by Poroshenko or "pro-Russians" by the main-stream media) is very difficult, practically impossible. And many teachers and professors working in Luhansk and Donetsk universities would be arrested and would face serious problems if they try to cross this border. I want to tell here that mostly the people of Donetsk and Luhansk were against the maidan movement that ousted the democratically elected President Viktor Yanukovich, a man from Gorlovka (a town controlled nowadays by the anti-maidan forces) and who studied in DonNTU (Donetsk National Technical University). The government of Poroshenko (called by the anti-maidan forces "Kiev Junta") also created several websites in English stealing the name of the institutions that still are working successfully in Donetsk and Luhansk. The diplomas of the high schools, colleges and universities issued by the educative institutions of Donetsk and Luhansk are recognized by the Russian Federation and internationally have the same value that any of the diplomas issued by the Russian Federation. Currently there are several cooperation programmes between Russian universities and the universities of Donetsk and Luhansk. Some of the universities here have even agreements with China. The Wikipedia should not be partizan and not support any of the parts involved in the current militar and political conflict. Around 4 million people are living in the territories controlled by the anti-maidan forces and they look pretty happy out of the control of the forces that took the power in Kiev ousting the President that was elected by the Ukrainian people. I include in this post the websites of some of the higher education institutions working in Luhansk and Donetsk. They always have been working here and they continue working here. Wikipedia should maybe include an article about this issue and also include the links to the webs of the universities that are opened and working as usual in Donetsk and Luhansk. Those webs are written in Russian and Ukrainian language not in English like the websites created by the pro-maidan government of Poroshenko. How a facility placed in the small village of Starobilsk (Western Ukraine) with only 18.000 inhabitants can pretend to be the Luhansk National University "Tadas Shevchenko"? How a small facility placed in the small town of Krasnoarmiysk (now re-named "Pokrovsk" by the new pro-maidan authorities), a town with around 60.000 inhabitants, can pretend to be the Donetsk National Technical University?

I mostly agree. The current state of affairs is that two institutions independently claim to represent this university. Wikipedia should describe this situation as it is, not as one of those institutions wants to pretend it to be. Heptor (talk) 22:12, 23 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
By the way, Gonzo Blogger, it should be noted that all the claims that the Lugansk Universities moved out of town were added by a single IP contributor, 194.228.32.30 on December 14, 2014. If he or she is "somebody working for the pro-maidan government of Petro Poroshenko" as you suggested or if it was Mr Poroshenko himself is anyone's guess. If there are students or faculty that remain in the city, it's strange that none of them corrected this. Maybe they just don't know enough English to make contributions to Wikipedia.
