UUNZ is not USQ. It is a private company that delivers a few USQ courses in Auckland. It's campus is not a campus of USQ. matturn 13:08, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

Not to be overcritical, but much of the editing here (and the requests) seem asenine (out of proportion). I mean, a quick seach on Wikipedia of small colleges or universities reavels many (many) articles in which, for example, the date and fact of their foundation wasn't footnoted. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 147.46.57.159 (talk) 04:37, 29 September 2008 (UTC)

The University of Southern Queensland (USQ) is based in Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia, with campuses also in Springfield, Fraser Coast and Ipswich. The institution was established in 1967 as the Queensland Institute of Technology (Darling Downs). In 1971, it became the Darling Downs Institute of Advanced Education, then the University College of Southern Queensland in 1990 and finally the University of Southern Queensland in 1992.

Professor Thomas has a PhD in Veterinary Science from Murdoch University and is a Fellow of the Australian Institute for Company Directors. She has received numerous national and international awards for her leadership in education. Professor Thomas currently holds the position of Deputy Chair for the Managing Council of the Association of Commonwealth Universities. She is also the Deputy Chair and for the Regional Universities Network. Professor Thomas was appointed Chairperson to the State Library Board of Queensland in March 2014. She is a strong advocate for the transformative role of education, both as a mechanism for social justice and as a key driver for national productivity and innovation.

Summary of work on the article

The article was updated as follows:

• Sources:
  • Use of independent, secondary sources. Where possible, newspaper and books sources, with editorial control, were used.
  • There are just a few places now with primary sources, such as the list of schools and research institutes and centres
  • The maintenance tags regarding primary sources and needing to improve the sources were then removed.
• Some of the content was updated as a result of information from the sources.
• Content was removed from the history, such as when buildings were constructed, etc. Others may disagree with that approach. It's kind of a personal or stylistic approach. My thought was about: how to keep the article concise so readers don't give up on the page (article size / readability) and target the kind of information that most readers are going to be interested in knowing about. It seems its more important to know about what facilities the university has now (such as in the individual campus sections) than the history of its construction. Again, a personal approach.
• The information about the on campus, off campus, and online education programs have been moved into a section: Flexible educational programs, with relevant award information there.
• There's also a new Student enrollment section, with relevant information there.

The hope is: that the article is a nice encyclopedic summary of the University of Southern Queensland... and interested readers can delve into more detailed information at the university's website, via links at the infobox and in the External links section.--CaroleHenson (talk) 04:48, 21 March 2015 (UTC)

The lede

I cut it a bit and broke it into several paragraphs to avoid the wall of text appearance. I think it probably needs a bit more cutting - eg not sure the Japanese garden is important enough to be in the lede. Tacyarg (talk) 16:36, 28 February 2018 (UTC)
