Where do

[edit]

Where do these requirements for autonomous ground vehicles come from? They seem completely arbitrary and somewhat unrealistic, such as "Work for months or years without human intervention"

Land mines

[edit]

Beyond doubt, Unmanned ground vehicle are being used against Land mines. The article has nothing about this fact.Agre22 (talk) 00:18, 4 October 2009 (UTC)agre22[reply]

Military?

[edit]

Why does the very first paragraph of this article explicitly say these are military robots? Generally, this is the case, but it is definitely not a requirement to be classified as a UGV. I will plan to edit this out unless there is a compelling reason why a UGV can only be identified as a military platform. Dornick (talk) 13:51, 9 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This article relies only on military craft and ignores civil applications, such as the autonomous car, or robots used by various emergency crews or extraterrestrial rovers like the Opportunity rover. Non-military applications should be included. Tony Mach (talk) 06:00, 5 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
UGV is a military classification, just like UAV. Didn't really even enter civilian vernacular until the mid 2000s, because civilians just called such things autonomous vehicles. 216.58.122.145 (talk) 16:40, 11 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to one external link on Unmanned ground vehicle. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}} after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page altogether. I made the following changes:

Issues Resolved?

[edit]

Information about UGV design and commercial uses has been added with a large number of new references. Perhaps it is enough to remove the notes at the lede and before the design section. Thatcher57 (talk) 19:43, 3 September 2016 (UTC) I removed the templates since I believe I fixed the issues noted. Thatcher57 (talk) 02:33, 12 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
