Hoax?[edit]

I think that this is a hoax--I'm not finding this CD on sale anywhere, and none of the links claimed as sources actually backup the information presented, except for the www.discogs.com links (which can easily also be hoaxes).Heidijo236 (talk) 05:03, 23 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Nothing says it isn't a single either. If Unusual You's release is a hoax then 3 and the Singles Collection might be as well, being it was posted only by a fan. Spears or Jive are yet to confirm either one.

The single is a hoax, since Jive and Spears confirmed The Singles Collection and "3" are being released. They haven't confirmed Unusual You as a single.
UPDATE!! > we were right, the US version was deleted for being false!< well im in Australia, and i bought it from JB - Hi Fi. i think its a minor release to promote britney in the australian tour. but , from looking at the screenshots (on discogs), the us version looks like some edited the australian version to say it was released in US. the font is different and looks more clearer, like someone edited it. i mean, its like and then we kiss, jive didn't announce that. it just happened. i think the US release should be checked. have a look at the screen shots of the disc where it says "made in the us". it clearer than the rest of the font (like it was edited). i think we should get rid of that. but Aus release is true. and as for not seeing around, and then we kiss was only available in selected stores, and not anywhere online etc. plus Unusual You also has a valid catalog number. most fakes have random numbers (that cant be it) or no barcode/catalog at all.--Apeaboutsims (talk) 00:18, 25 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
i bought it k-mart in australia. so it is real. but im not confirming anything about the US version. i dont know anything about it--Jackex56 (talk) 00:32, 25 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
yeah i bought the aus version in JB - HIFI too. but looking at US version, there are two things that make me think its fake. 1. the font is clearer (as mentioned). 2. its very rare to release a 1 track single. i mean, usually the put a remix or a b-side. but it seems strange not put a remix or a bside. the Australian one does, but not the US version. and if it were released in the us, it would be playing on US radio. from what i heard, its only playing on radio in AUS. im not sure cos i live in aus, that its not getting played in the us, but it seems with peoples reaction, that it not. so keep the Australian bit. but get rid of the US release. im 99& sure its fake.--58.161.68.159 (talk) 00:38, 25 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I created an account for this. i wanted to let you know that im in new zealand, and its avalible there too. but im not sure about the US--Morgan3136 (talk) 01:39, 25 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
if it was released in New Zealand too, add it to the page--Apeaboutsims (talk) 01:43, 25 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
here is a photo of the single that i bought.

Also , its getting airplay in austrlia too. here's a "Rate the Hits" chart for 101.9 radio in aus.--Apeaboutsims (talk) 00:25, 25 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Minor release or promotional release???[edit]

I am changing Unusual You from "Minor Release" on the template to "Promotional Release", because ultimately it is a "Promotional Release" for Australia, as you say. Fortunato luigi (talk) 04:18, 25 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

sorry to confuse you, its not a promo single, i was just using "And Then We kiss" as an example. As we said on the Template discussion, its less confusing if its place under "Minor release" instead of Promotional Release, becuase your going to see it under promotional and then read something totally different in the article. i hope you understand. Thank - You for helping with the page. much appreciated--Apeaboutsims (talk) 05:25, 25 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

    Singles chronology[edit]

Should this song be after "radar" in the singles chronology and before "3", or "radar" should connect directly to "3" ignoring "unusual you"??? I'm asking you because it is, as you say, a "Minor Release" not a "Promotional Release" worldwide or in various contries, besides australia, so i dont know how we should put it, include it or not include it on the main chronology???? If enough people say to include it, please include it, if people choose to leave aparte from the chronology, i'll be okay qith it. Fortunato luigi (talk) 04:32, 25 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"And Then We Kiss" and the Megamix were put in it, so yes, unusual you should be too.--Apeaboutsims (talk) 05:09, 25 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
    • I also think it should be in the main chronology like and then we kiss is. --PlatinumFire 12:41, 25 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No one even knows about Unusual You being released as a single! It's just polluting the Britney Spears chronology. When the official release of Radar was scrapped in 2008, it was quickly removed from the chronology, so why a special honor to UY?

Radar was just a promo then and Unusual You has been sent to CD stores if you didnt know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! --PlatinumFire 19:41, 27 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

    Australian Rate the Hits Info[edit]

That rate list is where you can vote for any song! its not official. I could vote for "Get Naked (I got a plan)" numerous times and it could be number 1. As far as I'm concerned this single is fake. And is indeed an inappropriate source.

well, the amount of people who have confirmed it real in aus is out numbered. plus, no you cant vote. thats for the hot 30 countdown and then you can vote for any song. however, "Rate The Hits" is different. They give you a list of 20 singles (that has been released at the time) and then you vote whether you like them or not. it just means the reason why unusual you got to top is because it received the most amount of positive votes.--Apeaboutsims (talk) 07:32, 26 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
living in australia I know this chart as well, and for a song to enter the charts it has to be requested.
ok, give me proof on how you vote on the rate the hits chart and give me the link.--Apeaboutsims (talk) 12:50, 27 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
how ignorant are you anyways, considering it is called RATE the hits... but here: http://www.b105.com.au/shows/ratethehits/signup
this is fake! unusual you has never been released in australia, i rang up foxfm today (the station with rate the hits) to request the song, and they said that they have never received it! THAT PICTURE WAS PHOTOSHOPPED! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.220.105.105 (talk) 04:58, 29 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

    Clear things up!!![edit]

I just read all the discussion and i notice that a lot of information was removed from the article. People keep saying it is a single, others says that it doesnt exist, and other says otherwise. So, i think its time to clear things up: It is a promo single for Australia, yes or no??? The american version doesnt exist, so, we are done with that. Next: how we are going to handle this??? i mean, keep it as a single article, as a song, or, if its fake, redirect it to circus???? Other: remove it from the singles template if it is fake, if its real for Australia, keep it on Promo singles, or what??? I think it has been proved that unusual you is not single anywhere, but people keep insisting that its real on Australia, so lets make a decision once for all, please. Fortunato luigi (talk) 05:28, 29 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It's not real! the rate the hits picture was edited, see the chart...it's not there! http://www.fox.com.au/shows/rthcountdown/weeklychart —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.179.212.97 (talk) 13:24, 29 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

    It is a single...now CONFIRMED![edit]

Unusual You was released as a single. http://australian-charts.com/showitem.asp?interpret=Britney+Spears&titel=Unusual+You&cat=s this source proves it, and is reliable, unlike the previous ones, but this confirms that it IS a single!

    hope this helps--GenieOFbritney (talk) 21:15, 17 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Here comes another confirmation: it IS a single[edit]

It was only released on Australia and New Zealand. Here's the official digital download, it includes photographs of the physical release. http://www.discogs.com/Britney-Spears-Unusual-You/release/1936757 --Quaveren (talk) 20:25, 26 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

    It is not a single.
    • "Unusual You" was never announced as a single in any of Spears's official sites like the other singles were, or even acknowledged by them. It is also not included in any editions of The Singles Collection, including the boxset.
    • It did not chart in the countries it was "supposedly" released, only on Billboard's Pop 100, a minor and component chart.
    • The cover is from Candies. I doubt they would use pictures from the campaign as a single cover. Also note how the other singles covers are from the Circus era are from official promotional or video shoots ("Womanizer", "Circus") or the outtakes from the Mark Liddell shoot ("If U Seek Amy", "Radar").
    • The CD single is on eBay. The description says "You are bidding on an unofficial copy of the 'Unusual You' CD Single'".
    • Discogs is NEVER a reliable source when it comes to formats and track listings.
The result of the discussion was to redirect the page to the Circus album until it was announced as a single. It never was. Please don't make this type of edits without reading the discussion first. Xwomanizerx (talk) 00:20, 27 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
    So, are this pictures fake? http://www.discogs.com/viewimages?release=1936757 Thanks!--Quaveren (talk) 17:10, 27 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
No. They are probably scans from the CD single, which is fake.Xwomanizerx (talk) 22:07, 27 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Well, you can't include it on the Singles Collection since

    1. It only had a limited Australian release.
    2. It was released after the Singles Collection boxset had been manufactured.

This page SHOULD be an article[edit]

The song was CONFIRMED. The song CHARTED. Therefore, it is a notable song. Who agrees this should be an article? Nickyp88 (talk) 21:04, 2 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Prove that it charted on a significant national chart. Xwomanizerx (talk) 22:02, 2 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

    Why to delete this?[edit]

Why should we delete this page if the song is confirmed as a single, and it's full of references?

I agree! If it was deleted, I'm going to make another page. If it was redirected and the page is still there, it should be moved to mainspace NOW!

    Cprice1000 19:02, 27 July 2010 (UTC)

The page was redirected per a deletion discussion. Recreation will no doubt lead to deletion and/or a redirect. - eo (talk) 19:07, 27 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It was a great REFERENCED article, and it IS a single.
