Some verification by independent reliable sources would be a good idea. It seems possible that the term was coined by Greene and Knuth in Greene, Daniel H.; Knuth, Donald E. (1990). Mathematics for the Analysis of Algorithms (3rd ed.). Boston, MA: Birkhäuser. pp. 95–98. ISBN 0817647287.

On the other hand, the sentence Richard Schroeppel proved in 1972 that the asymptotic probability that a randomly chosen number is unusual is ln(2) does not seem to be correct. As far as I can tell, in 1972, he published it as a conjecturen in HAKMEM. Deltahedron (talk) 21:53, 8 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
