According to the description here, he graduated in Physical chemistry, not Physics and Chemistry. I am not familiar with Portuguese, please verify it. Heihaheihaha (talk) 04:25, 18 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move 25 February 2024[edit]

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

The result of the move request was: moved. Closing as moved as proposed. There is uniformity that a move is needed, but some disagreement as to the target. The proposed target in the nomination is not impermissible, and is therefore permitted to prevail on consensus. BD2412 T 17:18, 13 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Victor CrespoVítor Pereira Crespo – I don't know why the anglicized name "Victor" is used here. It seems that in Portuguese, the name "Vítor Pereira Crespo" is more commonly used. There is another Portuguese government official whose name is Vítor Manuel Trigueiros Crespo. There is a need to disambiguate them. 32come (talk) 05:25, 25 February 2024 (UTC) — Relisting. – robertsky (talk) 14:15, 6 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • Move to Vítor Crespo per WP:COMMONNAME. If the other one gets an article then we can reconsider. It's bizarre that these two politicians of the same name have exactly the same years of birth and death! Vítor Crespo (PSD politician) and Vítor Crespo (admiral) would probably be the best disambiguators. -- Necrothesp (talk) 14:21, 27 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support Vítor Pereira Crespo per nom. Based on page views and wiki nav data from pt-wiki, I don't think there's a clear primary topic between the two individuals of this name, and whether they have extant pages on English Wikipedia or not isn't really relevant per WP:PRIMARYRED. Vítor Crespo should be converted to a disambiguation page.  — Amakuru (talk) 23:46, 4 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
    • His full name doesn't seem to be his common name though, and we don't use uncommonly used middle names as disambiguators. I don't mind him being disambiguated as I suggested, but not using his full name. -- Necrothesp (talk) 16:37, 6 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
According to the Portuguese naming tradition, it is possible that Pereira is part of his surname(s) rather than middle name. Also, in Portuguese legislative documents, the full name Vítor Pereira Crespo is always used. 32come (talk) 22:29, 7 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that would be common in formal documents everywhere. That doesn't make it his common name. In other sources he is listed simply as Vítor Crespo. -- Necrothesp (talk) 10:53, 11 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Per WP:NATURALDIS, we can choose to use "an alternative name that the subject is also commonly called in English reliable sources, albeit not as commonly as the preferred-but-ambiguous title, is sometimes preferred". That seems to fit the bill here. The full name appears quite often in sources, and disambiguates against the other version, so is a good choice here.  — Amakuru (talk) 18:08, 17 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
