Graphics

[edit]

The fact this terminal replaced models which supported graphics are mentioned in two places.

"The VT500s replaced all previous models of DEC's VT line, at that time consisting of the VT420 text and VT340 graphics terminals."

This makes it sound like it implemented the features of the VT340. But based on the manual and the archived site, it didn't support sixel or ReGis graphics (to be precise, it supported soft character using sixels, but not bitmap drawing with them).

"The high-end models, the VT330 and VT340, included the abilities to display bitmap graphics using the sixel format, vector graphics using ReGIS or Tektronix 4010 emulation, [...]."

It's strange to mention these features of the predecessors without mentioning that they aren't supported on the VT500 models.

Please let me know if I'm mistaken, or I'm likely to update the text to reflect this.

I agree, the 500 series was text-only according to the referenced Boundless Technology datasheets. Ofiachain (talk) 02:35, 5 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Availabilty

An update of the last line of the lead may be needed in light of the information at http://www.boundlessterminals.com 110.21.184.239 (talk) 08:30, 23 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Form factor

The article says the 520 was a pizza box with external monitor but there's a photo of one on the page and it clearly isn't? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ofiachain (talkcontribs) 01:20, 22 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The way to deal with that is to tag the statement (to ask for a reliable source. Most of this topic consists of unsourced commentary, however. TEDickey (talk) 11:23, 22 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I have addressed the pizza box issue myself by converting the three external links at the bottom of the page into proper reference tags; they describe the 525 as the only one with separate monitor so I updated the text accordingly. Ofiachain (talk) 02:35, 5 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
