Support--they are both about the same thing! the_ed17 20:00, 16 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

    • I agree -- one article focuses on the history, the other on the current operations. BWM 05 February 2009.
    • As do I. There's a lot of material from the "Company" article, that could be useful for this article. Plus, without Connecticut in the name "Valley Railroad Company" could refer to anywhere. ----DanTD (talk) 01:54, 12 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I support this merge. Markvs88 (talk) 16:15, 18 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

As there is no opposition, I have merged the other article into this one. --Polaron | Talk 14:49, 19 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Through service

[edit]

@Dogru144: I think you're confusing the Valley Railroad with another line - possibly the Connecticut River Line. Passenger service ended on the Valley Railroad in stages between 1917 and 1933 (as I will cite momentarily), and it was always a minor local route without through services. @Pi.1415926535: Yes, I see that now.Dogru144 (talk) 06:13, 12 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I've decided it would be prudent to make a separate article covering the historic company. There's a lot more that can be said about the original Connecticut Valley Railroad than what is currently here, and as this article is about the heritage railway, it didn't make sense to me to add that here. As such, the history section here can be slimmed down and potentially moved partially to the new article, to focus this one more squarely on the current company. Current branding

[edit]

The article currently lacks mention of the current "Essex Steam Train and Riverboat" branding or say anything about the boat they operate. n2xjk (talk) 13:36, 15 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Probably useful reference

Probably useful reference for anyone expanding this or trying to improve referencing: Valley Railroad State Park Economic Impacts Study, July 2015. - Jmabel | Talk 01:27, 17 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
