To merge Tamil Nadu Makkal Congress into a section on Vazhappady K. Ramamurthy given a lack of independent notability for the party. Klbrain (talk) 15:19, 10 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

There is a lack of sources covering the subject Tamil Nadu Makkal Congress to show that it passes WP:ORGCRIT the sources are giving passing mentions as its founder is notable. And notability is WP:NOTINHERITED. Suggesting a merge with the founder. DBigXray 19:03, 20 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support and I would note that as written, there really isn't anything to merge that isn't already at the target. Our method for expanding content about overlapping subjects like this should be to expand relevant subsections of existing articles, and only splitting once the section is either overly long or including material irrelevant to the original subject. signed, Rosguill talk 19:36, 20 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose, generally speaking, merging articles on organizations and articles on individuals makes Wikipedia more confusing and messes up categorization schemes. I see no particular reason to merge the two articles, and would prefer that the notability of each be evaluated separately. --Soman (talk) 14:01, 21 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
You should see what User:Rosguill has already said it in a very precise way. If the subject lacks individual notability merging is exactly what is done, if a suitable target exists, the other option being deletion. No one is confused. The contributors above are suggesting a merge only because the org lacks sources meeting WP:ORGDEPTH and WP:ORGCRIT. DBigXray 15:12, 22 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
