First sentence of article

[edit]

Just updated the article with a focus on more reliable sources, and a more logical structure. I was wondering, since the full name is "Vdara Hotel & Spa," but it is sometimes referred to as the shortened name "Vdara," how should the first sentence read? Currently it starts with "Vdara Hotel & Spa, sometimes called the Vdara, is a..."

Thoughts on whether that first sentence should be adapted? --Ordwayen (talk) 21:16, 12 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Vdara Death Ray

[edit]

Why is there no mention of the famous Vdara Death Ray? It is discussed in this article (http://realestate.yahoo.com/promo/5-shocking-architectural-failures.html) about architectural failures, and I'm curious to know whether and how it was dealt with by the management. Basically, the design of the building (a huge building of curved highly reflective glass) created a "death ray" in the hot desert sun that focused onto a small area in the pool. It was said to have burned several guests, and even melted a plastic bag! Surely the mafia will allow it to at least be MENTIONED in this article, eh? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.62.190.18 (talk) 22:02, 8 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article does discuss the "solar convergence" in the pool area. --DavidK93 (talk) 22:16, 8 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Would a mention of the principle of the Solar furnace be appropriate?Jim.henderson (talk) 22:03, 3 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

including the names of mid-level construction personnel

[edit]

Why are the names of one of the architecture company's employees, two of the construction personnel, etc. included? This information seems totally irrelevant and insignificant. From a google search, it appears that these people were middle level manager-type workers. They don't seem to satisfy the notability requirement. From a look at the page history, it looks like these names have been deleted several times, but always added back in? Makes me think that one of these people are actively monitoring this article to make sure their name stays in it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 38.100.8.235 (talk) 02:54, 19 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

3/17: I totally agree. The guy that makes your fries--no matter how good a guy he is--isn't named in the McDonald's Wikipedia page. Same here. The middle managers that worked on this construction project don't seem to satisfy Wikipedia's significance criteria. I made some grammar edits, and also implemented this one. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.206.122.29 (talk) 20:02, 17 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Merge_proposal

[edit]

I made a mistake. I created a stub on exactly the same topic. What little information is in the new article should be merged into this article. Then I propose renaming the article Vdara Hotel and Spa. Comfr (talk) 05:53, 9 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

That can simply be redirected here. I don't see anything to merge (everything that's there is already covered in this article, except for this photo). I don't feel a name change is necessary. "Vdara" is the predominant name used in sources and is concise, both in accordance with WP:TITLE.  AJFU  (talk) 15:40, 9 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I agree. Comfr (talk) 18:53, 10 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
