Road crossing runway

[edit]

The article states "There is a road that crosses the runway; traffic must be stopped for aircraft to take off, similar to the Gibraltar Airport." Is this still true? I saw no evidence of such a road last week, and neither does OpenStreetMap's map of Port Blair. Jpatokal (talk) 07:13, 22 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Vir Savarkar AirportVeer Savarkar International Airport — Relist. Vegaswikian (talk) 18:03, 24 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The official name is Veer Savarkar International Airport. Take a look at this picture of the airport, and in particular the sign: [1] In addition, "Veer Savarkar Airport" beats "Vir..." by 42,800 to 1,200 on Google, making it the most common name as well as the most official one. Jpatokal (talk) 11:32, 22 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

As can clearly be seen from the sign on the airport building [2], the official name is Veer Savarkar International Airport. It was moved to the current title with no discussion, and should be restored. Jpatokal (talk) 05:51, 17 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The above discussion is preserved as an archive of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on this talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.
