I'll get to this shortly.--Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 22:09, 11 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • No DABs.
  • One dead link.
One replaced. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 06:32, 14 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Images appropriately licensed.
  • Why do you have the same name for some veggies under the other cultivars as that of the main entry?
I've changed the heading. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 06:32, 14 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • What's your criteria for picking veggies and cultivars for the table?
Doing my best to be inclusive but see below. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 06:32, 14 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Combine the first two paragraphs in the lede.
Done. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 06:32, 14 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Not sure that I like the phrase "plant food"
Removed. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 06:32, 14 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • grains but includes seeds missing comma
Done. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 06:32, 14 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • single product crops hyphenate the first two words here as they're a compound adjective. You should probably also link to monoculture.
Done. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 06:32, 14 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • for exchange against other goods Shouldn't this be "for" rather "against"?
Done. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 06:32, 14 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • They used seeds from quinoa Should probably have "also" added to this bit.
Done. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 06:32, 14 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Vegetables are eaten in a variety of ways, as part of main meals and as snacks. Seems kinda self-evident to me.
The difficulty with writing this article is that it is hard to have a world perspective. My view of vegetables is probably quite different from that of a South Sea Islander or a resident of Tierra del Fuego. Vegetables used in Japan and China are little known to me and English language sources concentrate on western type vegetables. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 06:32, 14 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Understood, but what other ways of eating them are possible?--Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 14:50, 15 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I have removed the sentence. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 17:39, 15 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for taking on this review. I have dealt with the points raised above. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 06:32, 14 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Unaware of this GA Review, I made a number of formatting and tweaking edits to the article. Hope you find them helpful. No such user (talk) 12:41, 14 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, they are fine. Thank you. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 18:12, 14 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Link perennials, annuals, biennials.
Done. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 17:39, 15 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Hyphen for temperature controlling.
Done. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 17:39, 15 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Which units were you referring to? Cwmhiraeth (talk) 17:39, 15 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Down in the production table.--Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 17:56, 15 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I have added some conversions to the headings with great reluctance because I do not think it an improvement, and it looks dippy. The FAO produces figures for world use in metric tons and none of the other articles I looked at, Potato, Wheat and Apple, had any imperial equivalents. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 06:26, 16 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I just added total world productions by crop [1], to provide readers with some sense of relative importance (and I got surprised myself by a few figures, like for garlic or yam). I agree with Cwmhiraeth though: metric tons are standard in the field, and two imperial tons are close enough to metric ton anyway for the purpose of displaying very rough estimations like these ones. No such user (talk) 11:47, 16 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I think that it looks OK as it is now. For comparative purposes I'd agree with y'all that no conversion is needed, but readers will want to know how much that is in numbers that they understand. While rather familiar with metric length, volume and weight units, I have no fundamental understanding of hectares, so any value using that unit is absolutely meaningless to me. I tweaked the heading a lit to fix a typo and to clarify the type of tons being used.--Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 16:46, 28 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Referencing: Some of the books cited are missing page numbers (ie Dictionary of Word Origins, Quality and Stability of Frozen Foods, Reversing Diabetes). I might be able to help for some of these if they're not readily accessible to you. FallingGravity (talk) 17:06, 26 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
That might be useful, thanks. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 19:33, 26 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Waiting on these. And while not a requirement, some of your sources are in title case, but others are not. Consistency is a FAC requirement as I suspect that that's where this is heading next.--Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 16:46, 28 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I have replaced two of the sources mentioned. With regard to the Dictionary of Word Origins, the entries will likely be in alphabetical order so there should be no difficulty in locating the information. I improved this article for the Core Contest, where it came third, and do not intend to submit it to FAC. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 06:16, 29 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • In the "Dietary recommendations" section, the sentence "For most vegetables, one serving is equal to 1/2 cup and can be eaten raw or cooked. For leafy greens, such as lettuce and spinach, a single serving is typically a full cup" isn't supported by the Harvard School of Public Health reference. FallingGravity (talk) 17:06, 26 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I have added an additional source. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 19:33, 26 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
