Disambiguation

[edit]

This should probably be a disambiguation page. Some of the incoming links, such as the one at Lake District, seem to refer to Coregonus vandesius. The Oxford English Dictionary (2nd ed., 1989) defines "vendace" as "a. A species of small freshwater fish (Coregonus vandesius) belonging to the same genus as the pollan and powan or gwyniad, found in the lake of Lochmaben in Scotland. b. A closely-allied species (Coregonus gracilior) found in Derwentwater, formerly identified with the preceding." It looks like there are three different uses, then (although C. gracilior is called a synonym of C. vandesius by FishBase). Ardric47 00:33, 21 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, the one at the Lake District is C. albula, the common species: vandesius is restricted to a few lochs in Scotland. For this reason I changed this to vendace (dab) and redirected vendace to albula. Don't use the OED for biology article info. innotata (Talk | Contribs) 20:08, 20 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
