Explorer Scouts?

Canadian Venturers

Membership policies

Is there a reason that accurate and verifiable membership requirements keep getting reverted out of this article? Membership is clearly within the focus of the article and these particular requirements are obviously imortant to the organization since the parent group has taken the issue to the Supreme Court to enforce them.207.69.137.10 11:51, 23 August 2007 (UTC)

It's not that I disagree with the content; I reverted it because it doesn't belong in this part of the article. Additionally, there is already an entire article on the subject elsewhere. Your addition only serves to, IMO, disrupt the article. Justinm1978 14:07, 23 August 2007 (UTC)
At least you have finally recognized that this is a National Council issue; the Venturing Division has never been to court over this or any other issue. Trying to replicate and maintain this over the parent BSA article, the six membership articles and the controversies article simply makes no sense. --Gadget850 ( Ed) 14:21, 23 August 2007 (UTC)

History

I don't think that having a link (in a smaller font) in a navbox on the right, to History of the Boy Scouts of America, is adequate. There really should be a brief summary of the history of Venturing in this article (see WP:SS), with a link (as the "main article") to History of the Boy Scouts of America#Venturing (preceded by Exploring). -- John Broughton (♫♫) 21:15, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

YPT

Someone added the following on YPT: "must be re-certified every three years." Can we have a citation for this? I have yet to see anything in writing specifying how often one must retake YPT. I've heard 2 years tossed out. All I ever see is you must have 'current' certification, but no definition (ie years) for that. --Emb021 16:58, 1 March 2006 (UTC)

I added the three years: I took the online certification and the certificate shows three years. Darned if I can find a specific reference online (although it passes [Google test]). I'll look for a real reference. --Gadget850 ( Ed) 18:28, 1 March 2006 (UTC)
Interesting. I've done the online cert several times and never seen a 3 year experation. My frequent requests for written policy on how often YPT must be done as always been ignored (or unanswered). --Emb021 16:09, 3 March 2006 (UTC)

I see that this subject was unresolved here, but was cleaned up in the actual article. According to the [national guidelines], an adult should take YPT within 90 days of becoming a leader, and encouraged to take a refresher course every 24 months thereafter. However, local councils can place date-specific requirements on YPT at their discretion. I'll place the link on the actual article for reference. --CKHamel (talk) 21:24, 28 February 2010 (UTC)

Age change

Waiting for a source before adding this:

BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, the current age and grade eligibility requirements for participation in the Venturing program is 14 years of age and completion of the eighth grade, and

WHEREAS, the Program Content Committee has recommended that, effective May 1, 2010, the age requirement be changed to 13 years of age and completion of the eighth grade;

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Article VII, Section 2, Clause 2 (a) of the BSA Rules and Regulations be, and hereby is, amended to read as follows:

Venturer- Be 13 years of age and have completed the eighth grade, or be 14 years of age or older, and not yet 21 years of age.

If anyone were to begin an article on the National Youth Venturing Cabinet they would certainly have the support of the cabinet. ..of not explaining what it actually is, what is actually done. Article is pretty close to empty promotional wording. Instead of claiming 'opportunities to learn and apply proven leadership skills' give examples of how this is done! --92.202.66.25 (talk) 14:54, 3 July 2012 (UTC)

Notability

Sorry, but that has no business with regard to this topic, which is a major subdivision of a major American youth program. If every small religion-based pseudo-Scouting program is notable (and why would they not be as Wikipedia is not paper and under no real space constraints?) then this program, which is something of a direct co-ed continuation of the old "High Adventure" Explorer program is most certainly notable and worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia. To say that something is "not notable" and hence unworthy in being in Wikipedia as even a "stub" article is to say that it is of less significance that many "kayfabe" WWE events or than every single Pokemon card, which is hardly the case here. 2600:1004:B104:DBE:24AE:D3DE:5E77:1B8B (talk) 10:29, 16 December 2015 (UTC)
