Article Name, Conflict of Interest

[edit]

I almost started a new article under Victorian Employers' Chamber of Commerce and Industry when I stumbled across the VECCI page. I don't think VECCI has sufficient recognition to be used for the article name and would personally prefer the full name of the organisation as the article title with VECCI becoming a redirect. The relevant guideline is WP:MOSABBR.--Takver (talk) 13:53, 14 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The other issues with the VECCI article at the moment is it reads like a brochure for the organisation. I am also aware that the main contributor has been a user called User:Vecci. I think there is a Conflict of Interest, and possibly a problem with Neutral Point of View--Takver (talk) 13:53, 14 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What 'Conflict of Interest'? Are they trying to sell anything? No. Are there contact details, phone numbers, or anything else that even relates to conflict of interest? No. Is there a description of the organisation, its purpose and goals? Yes. Is there a detailed history od the organisation? Yes. I see no Conflict of Interest, it is perfectly reasonable to expect large organisations to edit and maintain their own pages. Wouldn't you? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.219.255.133 (talk) 12:15, 24 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, a conflict of interest (COI) occurs regardless of whether you are trying to sell anything or not. For more on this, please read Wikipedia's Conflict of Interest article. That said, there doesn't appear to be a conflict of interest in this article because all it contains are facts (i.e. it does not profess any point of view). Had User:Vecci deleted warranted criticism (that was correctly cited) or added undue praise (that was not cited), then a COI violation could have been said to occur. Instead, it's good that the user has declared his/her interests and affiliations and is making factual edits in an open and public manner. --ameel (talk) 06:44, 13 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
