Authenticity of Navy Rum
[edit]Many firms claim to make Navy Rum, but my understanding is that each of the main UK Victualling Yards (i.e. the four home dockyards) produced their own rum and apart from some rough standardisation of proof ( i.e did the gunpowder explode or not) there was no standardised recipie. Each Yard produced something slightly different, so that the modern claims of "navy rum" are an bit suspect without reference to a particular Victualling Yard.
At there any old D of V hands out there who know the truth of the matter? 7 Unfortunately I worked in D.G.Ships in the mid 60s so I never had much contact with D of S.
In the end, it probably doesn't matter. As long as you like it, the name is irrelevant. 57.128.147.253 (talk) 15:36, 21 October 2022 (UTC)
