Relation to interatomic potentials

[edit]

McQuarrie[1] has a good discussion linking this topic to interatomic potentials. His book isn't cited on either page and some of the discussion might get too technical, but it could still make a useful starting point for someone more experienced than myself to expand this article. For example, with knowledge of the interatomic potential, one can analytically calculate the second virial coefficient by means of an integral; this seems to me like it may be be relevant to this article. Apologies in advance if this is not the right way to go about this, since I'm new to editing. Johan Brahm (talk) 14:41, 20 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
