This article might be part of the article Voicemail. Telephone voice recording has been around since 1935; sorting stored messages since (?) the '60's. Now add a text record of who called and sort that instead of the audio record. Is it the term "visual voicemail" that's important?; or is it the fact that the latest version of text-record-of-an-audio-record uses email protocol that is important? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.228.67.204 (talk) 22:08, 5 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Random access voicemail

[edit]

What does "random access" in "random access voicemail" mean? Can we either get a source to support this or a clarification of what this means? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 162.157.95.102 (talk) 04:52, 23 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I remember using 'Visual Voice Mail' in the '90s

I worked at SGI and they had an online system that you could use to manage your messages, and you could do so using the phone too. I don't think the iPhone was the first in any way. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Davidmaxwaterman (talkcontribs) 11:49, 18 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
