Overview[edit]
This section is very lacking. There is a lot of general information on ASHA that we can use to cover 1) what voice disorders are, 2) common Tx approaches and 3) common Tx options. - The overview is really lacking. I think We can move the section taking about voice "broad types". It might be good to first start by talking about giving an overview of why and when voice therapy is used, followed by a brief description of how male/female registers different slightly (and also deleting the broad types section). Professionals Involved[edit]
In this section I would add brief blurbs about the role of different professionals involved (S-LPs, Otolaryngologists etc). ASHA also mentions cases where VDs present without structural pathology, in which case intercollaboration between the SLP and other professionals such as psychologists, could be important.

Hi everyone! I figured we should get started on this asap. We can share our suggestions about the overall article here. I've also added headings that follow those in the article, so we can start including our ideas for each of those. Feel free to add your own headings if you feel another area of voice therapy is important to mention. I'm thinking of adding a section about the different approaches to management. They are: physiologic voice therapy, symptomatic voice therapy, hygienic voice therapy, psychogenic voice therapy, and eclectic voice therapy. ASHA focuses on distinguishing between physiologic and symptomatic voice therapy, but the other two textbooks include all five approaches. I might focus on physiologic and symptomatic but describe that other approaches exist as well. I don't know exactly where it would fit in yet. If could be a new section, or potentially fit within "Applications" under the "Voice disorders" heading.

I'm thinking about adding some information on the "Voice Prosthesis" section of the article "Voice Therapy". This section currently only includes one sentence stating what a voice prosthesis is. I would add information on who qualifies for this, the process, and possible outcomes in relation to voice therapy.

Voice therapy, also known as voice training or voice coaching, consists of techniques and procedures that target vocal parameters such as pitch, volume, and quality. This therapy is provided by speech-language pathologists or voice coaches and is primarily used to aid in the management of voice disorders,[1] to alter voice for the purpose of singing (vocal pedagogy), or for altering the overall quality of voice, as in the case of transgender voice therapy. Voice therapy may also serve to teach preventative measures such as vocal hygiene and other safe speaking or singing practices.
