Missing reference to the term "Gutless"

Somewhere in the article there should be reference to the fact that F7U's were commonly referred to as the "Gutless" due to the notorious lack of power in its engines. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 198.31.184.166 (talk) 20:49, 21 February 2007 (UTC).

This has been taken care of at some point. Highonhendrix (talk) 00:35, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
I put it in warily as I could find no reference for it, I don't think it's contentious though. Nimbus227 (talk) 01:42, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

The F7U was being withdrawn from service when I moved to Princesss Anne County in early 1957. The airplane was referred to as the "Gutless" by pilots in the neighborhood (not a nice airplane to take a wave off in). It was also referred to as an "Ensigh Eliminator." Seldom mentioned is the fact that the airplane was liked for it's handling qualities. Mark Lincoln (talk) 18:28, 16 December 2019 (UTC)

Broken url for Reference 1

Nickname

I'd heard from an 'old head' that it also had the moniker 'Ensign Killer'. LorenzoB (talk) 22:23, 13 December 2007 (UTC)

Broken url for Reference 4

This link is dead, however the article can still be reached at: http://www.aircraftresourcecenter.com/Fea1/101-200/Fea182_Walters-Farm_Williams/00.shtm Problem is, I don't know how to change the link. When I click on "edit" for that section, all that shows up in the edit box is 'reflist'. If anyone knows how to do this, please let me know. Highonhendrix (talk) 00:32, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

Additional Survivors

There are 2 additional airframes slated to be restored in Dallas, at the Vought Plant. The Vought Retirees Ass'n is going to be restoring either one or both of them in the near future, after they finish with the V-173 Flying Flapjack. I've seen them myself, when I walked out to the hangar they're stored in (on my last day of work there...). I believe they're -3's, but I'm not 100% sure. 2 fuselages, 2 sets of flying surfaces, but I don't know what interior parts are available. BuAer nos are unknown. I think these should be added to the survivors once either 1>someone with more info can clarify what's in store for these birds or 2>after they're restored. Note: These are the two airframes that are now in San Diego: 128451 and 129565

When I was assigned to Squadron VX-3 at Atlantic City NJ in 1958, we had a couple of F7U's on the flight line. I can't remember anyone flying them and when VX-3 was relocated to NAS Oceana VA, they didn't make the trip with us. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Chuck3star (talkcontribs) 01:14, 5 September 2009 (UTC)

Disambiguation needed

The links to squadrons VA-34, 66, and 116 all lead to Virginia road numbers, not naval aviation units. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.162.218.122 (talk) 00:15, 15 December 2009 (UTC)

Bystanders killed or not?

The article caption states that the ramp strike killed several bystanders. However, the image source states the opposite. Which is correct? Maury Markowitz (talk) 17:20, 25 November 2013 (UTC)

Ramp strike fatality identity

The image of the ramp strike identifies a different fatality than the body text. Which is correct? Sarrica (talk) 13:42, 11 March 2020 (UTC)
