Ouch

[edit]

My ears are now burning with this garbage. Rock 1021 was just advertizing about them trying to be like the mix and the lazer before and how they shouldn't listen to everyone else. I don't understand how they would be stunting because they are Milwaukee's only alternative station that plays new music, you got to expect them to have gained some lost wlzr listeners. You are all probably wondering the same question though.--Aviper2k7 19:34, 10 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

They're stunting because of a format "tweak." Jacent Jackson, the new PD, is rebranding the station to have more of a "local" identity. Portpunk 08:52, 11 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It is hard to understand the value of "stunting" if it drives listeners away from a station. Listening to 5 second clips of songs is as ridiculous as going to a movie theater and watching two hours of previews. The best way to attract listeners to a new format is to play the music in that format, not to irritate listeners so much that they choose other stations, which is what I have done.

It's a common move, wlzr did the same thing. I don't think they'll lose any listeners because of it, they'll most likely tune back in the next day. I think they were wrong not to anounce a time untill today, I've been listening to it hoping they will make a big anouncement. Finally Kramp and Adler said something about them anouncing something at 5:00. WLZR made anouncements about big changes and such durring their stunting where I even heard Micheal Jackson being played. Of course that's a different story, as they dropped DJ Fish and started playing mostly classic rock. And that's why I started listening to WLUM :) Hopefully wlum will stop playing the same thing over and over again --Aviper2k7 20:46, 11 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
This same "Quick" stunt has been done by other stations around the country. Sure, it's a bit annoying, but the purpose of it is to attract attention, build curiosity, and bury the previous format. If they just went ahead with the new formatting, the collective response from listeners would be a mere shrug. Same thing with WHQG's stunting last fall. Their current format isn't that much of a departure from WLZR's, but it got people talking about it, the media covering it, and some pretty good ratings. That's why they do stunting in radio. --Fightingirish 14:43, 12 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Whoever added the new information and the new logo - great job! Only thing is, you saved over the last logo. I may have it on my hard drive, so I'll upload it. Or if someone else has it, add it to the archive of previous station logos. Thanks.--Fightingirish 14:43, 12 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Never mind, I've got it all straightened out. --Fightingirish 15:00, 12 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, didn't know what I was doing on the wikipedia part, but I photoshoped it off their website.--Aviper2k7 17:12, 12 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:WLUM1995.gif

Image:WLUM1995.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
