The station apparently did go on the air and stay there for quite some time. I've found lots of contemporary references to the station on local church websites and other sources, including a DX test in 2006 that, according to the follow-up, actually occurred. Either this is the most elaborate radio hoax since The War of the Worlds or the station has a 20-year broadcast history (but apparently no license).
