Comments[edit]

Don't know in which genre it belongs apart from progressive house,it definitely has bluegrass and country music influences like some songs of his new album. It is more of a progressive house/bluegrass song, but I put alternative dance instead, which is more general tbh.Gmirakis (talk) 16:50, 21 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The title of this article[edit]

is constantly being changed. Can we please agree a title? I favour "Wake Me Up!".--Launchballer 22:37, 13 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Wake Me Up!Wake Me Up (Avicii song) – I'm going to stop all this moving ruckus. I believe this song does not need an exclamation mark in the title because if you look on iTunes, it has no exclamation mark in its song title or single itself. Don't always go by the single cover. Billboard Man (talk) 01:24, 18 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I disagree entirely. The single cover, as far as I am concerned, is the absolute bible for setting our article titles because that it is the first thing people see when they look at it and will assume that to be the title. Some text entry fields do not allow the insertion of certain characters, and it would appear that this is one of them that disallows exclamation marks, hence its omission. Unreal7 and Werldwayd have also both moved this to Wake Me Up! from Wake Me Up (Avicii song), and I agree wholeheartedly with the pair of them.--Launchballer 09:37, 18 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I am in favour of keeping the exclamation mark myself, but I know there are certain Wikipedia conventions that favour the new Wake Me Up (Avicii song) proposal. Either way, if we will still have redirects, the result is the same. What's important is that the readers find the song easily. But I am in favour of Wake Me Up! as on the single and many of the media references to the song. werldwayd (talk) 19:02, 18 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support requires disambiguation. In ictu oculi (talk) 00:29, 19 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support the exclamation mark is not used officially (see the official YouTube video [1] and the BBC Charts [2] (access date: July 22, 2013 - will change over time). Neither use the exclamation mark. As there are other songs called Wake Me Up, disambiguation will be required. Oddbodz (talk) 23:35, 21 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Move protection[edit]

Explanation[edit]

So can anyone explain what the video is about? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.148.158.184 (talk) 03:51, 11 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It's an interpretation of the song's lyrics. 143.215.113.52 (talk) 08:09, 25 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Music video dates[edit]

It is written: The official video for "Wake Me Up!" was released onto YouTube the day after the lyric video on 29 July 2013. The lyric video was released on 28 June 2013, which means the official video was not released the day before, I assume. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.225.99.51 (talk) 21:04, 3 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Who directed music video?[edit]

It is confusing from the article.

> It was directed by celebrity photographer Mark Seliger

> It was directed by Zachary James and Alex Negrete

Who directed the video? — Preceding unsigned comment added by SPC5fyi (talkcontribs) 15:06, 21 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

EDM isn't a genre - get rid of it![edit]

Sure most of us can agree the song sucks but the citation for 'EDM' is hardly worthy to link and is oozing with dubiousness. I've cited an appropriate source through discogs which [correctly] labels the song as House. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pentrazemine (talkcontribs) 04:05, 5 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Wrong key?[edit]

Is the song "Wake Me Up" actually in B minor or D major?Ssjhowarthisawesome (talk) 21:28, 18 March 2016 (UTC) If the song is actually in D major, change the key?Ssjhowarthisawesome (talk) 21:41, 7 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Wake Me Up[edit]

Please make note of Angelina Jordan's cover of this song which she dedicated to Avicii upon his death. They were personal friends and had worked together. She was 12 when she recorded her version and posted it to her YouTube channel. Thanks. 2600:1700:FE4D:D600:1565:AE09:54C3:67FD (talk) 06:57, 8 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Not done, although that's a lovely story, songs are covered all day and every day. Literally 100s exist, and unless they receive coverage from third-party and reliable sources, they're not notable for inclusion per WP:COVERSONG. >> Lil-unique1 (talk) — 23:53, 8 May 2024 (UTC)
