Overall medal tally "doesn't add up"

[edit]

There is a numerical error in the table showing the history of Welsh medals totals. I haven't corrected it, because this article doesn't by itself have sufficient information to determine which number is the actual source of the error.

Each row in the body of the table contains the number of Welsh medals at each individual Games. If we assume that those are correct, then the error is in the arithmetical sum of the Silver medals. The overall totals (the last row of the table) should indicate a tally of 75 Silver medals - not 76 - and an overall combined medals tally of 234 - not 235.

However, it is possible that the error is in one of the reported individual Games' Silver medal counts and that the overall totals are correct. The aggregates in this note include only up to the the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi. With thanks from ChrisJBenson (talk) 03:33, 3 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

With the addition of the 2014 Glasgow Games totals, the error still persists in the arithmetic of the main table. This can be verified by either adding up the Silver column or the Total (all medals) column. In either case, the sum doesn't come to the number quoted in the last row. I believe the last row of the table should be corrected for the arithmetic with just 86 silver and hence just 270 total medals, but the error could possibly have been introduced elsewhere (as described above). Does anybody have a definitive source with correct arithmetic? With thanks from ChrisJBenson (talk) 06:03, 7 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I went ahead and verified each individual games total for Wales, re-did the arithmetic, and corrected this article's table as well as the table in the All-time Commonwealth Games medal table article. ChrisJBenson (talk) 06:29, 7 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
