'Disco' is vaguely referenced and phrased by one reviewer who is being given undue weight. I disagree with you – the Billboard review from which the genre is taken [2] mentions "disco" in the same sentence as "rap" and "pop-rock" to collectively describe three different songs from the album... it's clear that in all three cases it is referring to the genre under which each song could be placed. Another sourced genre is deep house. For me I'd rather saying deep house rather than disco. And of course, Larry Heard is a pioneer. For example: In Music USA: The Rough Guide, "deep-house sound seemed to move house away from its "posthuman tendencies back towards the lush" disco". Dance Music Manual: Tools, Toys, and Techniques "One of these budding early producers was Larry Heard, who after producing a track entitled Washing Machine released what was to become one of the most poignant records in the history of house. Under the moniker of Mr.Fingers, he released Can U Feel It, the first-ever house record that didn't borrow its style from earlier disco." DISCO the linked Billboard source very clearly states that its parent album Prism "flashes an array of sonic and lyrical colors, hopping from disco ('Walking on Air') to rap ('Dark Horse') to sumptuous pop-rock ('International Smile')" during its first half. That means this track is disco. End of story. Nothing vague about that at all. I also wouldn't be surprised if the IP (who makes quite a stretch in starting this RFC) is socking above under the username "Nicholasp88". SNUGGUMS (talk / edits) 18:52, 2 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
