Sabine Formula[edit]

The units in the formula do not jibe. I've added a disputed tag until this can be cleared up, as a heads-up to anybody who may be relying on the formula. Lovibond (talk) 01:26, 5 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The overall formula does not include the speed of sound as a variable, which is assumed to be 340 m/s and hence appears to be a constant. If you go back a couple of steps in the derivation the formula is T = 552V/Sac (V = volume in m3, S = area of absorption in m2, a = absorption coefficient (dimensionless), c = speed of sound in ms-1), the dimensions on the right hand side of the equation become m3/m2.ms-1, and therefore become seconds like the left hand side. 88.96.167.214 (talk) 16:29, 7 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
